A 20-year-old mother killed just hours before Christmas 12 years ago, now her family fears her case will turn cold.
The family of Sophia Ulloa are still mourning her death, nore than a decade later. A $50,000 reward is on the table for anyone who helps Stockton Police solve this crime, Sophia’s family hopes that’ll be enough for a witness to come forward.
In the blink of an eye Sophia’s life was taken away.
“We heard screaming,” said her mother, Tina Torres. Torres recalled the night her daughter was stabbed to death.
“I stopped right there and looked at my daughter, she was holding her side. She told us she’d been stabbed, pointed down the street and said go get him.”
For Tina Torres it still feels like the tragedy happened yesterday. It was Christmas Eve of 2000 she came out of the door of her home on El Monte St. in Stockton and saw her daughter pleading for help.
To this day, Sophia’s killer has never been brought to justice. Left behind on that tragic day, Sophia’s four-year-old little girl Jasmine. Jasmine Ulloa is now 16-years-old, all she has are pictures of her mother.
“I remember the swings, that’s all that I remember,” said Jasmine Ulloa, recalling the short time she had her mother in her life.
