The Attorney General says it is the first case of its kind.
Georgia Holzmeister, 88 died last June from large bedsores at an in home elder care facility in the Natomas area.
In charge of the place was Silvia Cata, 52 who now sits behind bars for the alleged abuse.
We tried talking to people at her residence, but they told us to leave the property saying there are other residents who live there.
According to Court documents filed by the Attorney General’s office Holzmseister had dementia and died from stage 4 pressure sores on her buttocks that went untreated by Cata.
When Neighbors learned of the news they were shocked.
“They were very nice people.” Said one neighbor
Cata’s husband and daughter were the facility’s sole providers.
Holzmeister’s family had been paying Cata $2,800 a month to live there.
Cata declined an on camera interview saying he needed to speak with her lawyer first.
She is currently at the Sacramento County Jail.
Her bail is set at $300,000
