car crash I-80SACRAMENTO –

A good samaritan stopped to help drivers in a traffic accident on I-80, and was then hit by a car himself early Wednesday morning.

CHP suspects a driver under the influence made an unsafe lane change and caused the six-car-crash north of N Street.

CHP Sgt. Matthew Burgess officer said, “I know it’s human nature to want to help, but just understand you are on the freeway and it could happen to anyone but we always want to recommend that you call 9-1-1 and don’t put yourself in harms way.”

The good samaritan was able to drive himself off the freeway where CHP met up with him and took him to a hospital. His condition is unknown.
