STOCKTON-

Officers opened fire on a man at a Stockton gas station, hitting him at least once.

Around noon Wednesday, CHP stopped a car of someone they recognized as having a warrant out.

After they pulled him over along Pershing Avenue near I-5, he ran off across the highway and down an embankment to an ARCO station.

The man then tried to steal a SUV at the gas station. Stockton Police officers shot at the man, hitting him.

The man was conscious when he was taken to the hospital, no word on his condition at this time.

Officers say the man had a felony no bail warrant for possession and being combative for officers during previous incidents.

Detectives will be at the ARCO station for a while investigating.
