A pilot who landed nose-down in a field near Winters has been identified.

He was 68-year-old Jeffrey Sharman, according to the Solano County coroner’s office.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, federal investigators from the NTSB and FAA are sifting through the debris.

Wednesday afternoon, the small, single-engine plane was seen near I-505 “in trouble”. A short time later, it crashed into a field.
