Meteor Flashes across Northern California Sky

SACRAMENTO-

The same day a massive, near-miss asteroid passed by Earth and nearly 24 hours after a meteor exploded above Russia, a meteor flew over northern California.

FOX40 viewers called in to report seeing a fireball soar through the sky Friday evening at about 7:45.

Sightings were also reported in the Bay Area.

Sacramento City College Astronomy Coordinator Liam McDaid says he doesn’t believe Friday evening’s meteor likely isn’t connected to the one in Russia or a piece of the asteroid that passed by the planet.

YouTube user caiden915x posted video (seen above) taken from a dashboard camera in San Francisco of a blue-green light flying through the sky, possibly the same meteor reported that night.
