Modesto Police have arrested six people Friday they believe are connected to a deadly shooting from the previous night.
Erick Gomez, 20, was shot around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night on Vera Cruz Avenue near Chapala Way. He was taken to the hospital, but died from his several gunshot wounds.
Investigators believe the shooting was gang related. A few men and women from the Sureno street gang were seen in the area around the time of the shooting, officers say. Gomez was reportedly a member of a rival gang.
Police say the six Sureno gang members chased Gomez, then stabbed and shot him several times.
While officers were on scene, they got a call about a 17-year-old girl showing up to the hospital suffering from stab wounds. Investigators believe the teen who was stabbed and her friends were responsible for Gomez’s death. It’s unknown by police how or why the teen was stabbed.
Detectives arrested 18-year-old Nancy Rodriguez, 20-year-old Jeanette Robles, 20-year-old Lisandro Mendoza, 20-year-old Jenna Sebourn, 21-year-old Elida Carranza and 22-year Jesse Sebourn. They are being charged with homicide, conspiracy and committing a crime for the benefit of a street gang.
