Sheriff’s detectives have made an arrest stemming from a 2010 murder case.

The investigation into the murder of 20-year-old Andres Cervantes Mendoza revealed that the young man was shot to death after a marijuana deal gone bad.

Mendoza’s body was later found in the brush near Lower Honcut Road and Pheasant Lane in Honcut.

Detectives identified 23-year-old Honcut resident Justin Taylor Foster as the suspect in the shooting. Justin’s home was served a search warrant; but, while Justin’s father (Raymond Edward) found himself in police custody on growing and selling marijuana charges, Justin wasn’t found.

It wasn’t until Tuesday morning that Butte County Sheriff’s detectives found Justin – in front of the Butte County Courthouse. Justin was arrested without incident and charged with murder.
