The Sacramento County Planning Commission voted against a plan to turn a south Sacramento apartment complex into a halfway home Thursday evening.
Neighbors spoke out against the plan, saying the area is full of crime and wouldn’t be the best environment for ex-criminals to rehabilitate.
Behavioral Systems Southwest, Inc., the company that had planned to purchase the property, said they were going to install security cameras and erect a 6-foot wall around the property.
They also argued that they’ve had success with similar neighborhoods in southern California.
