3 Dead, 3 Injured in Shootout on Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) -

Three people were killed and at least three others injured in a gunfight and subsequent car crash along the Las Vegas strip in Nevada early Thursday, police said.

The incident began around 4:20 a.m. when someone in an SUV fired at the occupants of a Maserati on Las Vegas Boulevard near Flamingo Road, not far from Caesars Palace and a number of other casinos, Las Vegas police spokesman Jose Hernandez said.

The Maserati continued through the intersection, causing a crash involving several vehicles, including a taxi cab that caught fire, Hernandez said.

The Maserati’s driver and the cab’s driver and passenger died, Hernandez said.

One of the Maserati’s other occupants suffered gunshot wounds. Three people in the crashed vehicles were injured, Hernandez said; it’s not clear whether that includes the wounded Maserati passenger.

Police are looking for the occupants of the SUV, described as a black Range Rover Sport with large black rims.

Hernandez didn’t have information on what led to the shooting.
