Two Teens Seriously Injured in Hit and Run

road_lightsRIO LINDA-

Two 17-year-old boys are in the hospital with major injuries after a hit and run Thursday night in Rio Linda.

Highway Patrol officers say the two boys, one on a bike and the other on a skateboard, were hit by a truck on Dry Creek Road near Elkhorn Boulevard.

The boys were in the bike lane when they were hit, investigators say.

The CHP is looking for a large, dark-colored Ford pick up truck with a missing right side mirror. The truck should have damage to the hood, grille and right headlight.

Anyone with information about the hit and run is asked to contact the CHP’s North Sacramento Office at (916) 338-6710.

first off, Iam very sorry for the injury to these young boys

What were they doing out at that time of night?????

Were they both wearing Helmets – as the LAW requires?

did the bike have lights on it???

    were they wearing reflective clothing

Yes, the car/truck was more than likely in the wrong but had these boys been home where they should have been, this would have never happened

I am a retired fire fighter with 35 years on the street – I have been on many accidents like this one, it is not pretty and many could have been avoided

I also ride a motorcycle on our CA streets and I can Not count the times I have seen young people on bikes and stake boards take big Risks – This is what teenages do – Iam NOT saying these two did anything to make this happen – what Iam asking is WHY were the parents allowing them out on the streets at this time on night and IF they were NOT dressed properly with helmets, then WHY NOT

I hope they have a full recovery and they find the driver and the law prevails and justis is done
