Every star loves their bling; and soon, big names like Renee Zellweger might be wearing bling made in Sacramento.
From a hobby, to a local shop, to the red carpet: Kristi Taylor’s “Got Sparkles” jewelry is now being sought by celebrities.
With her shop in Old Sacramento, Taylor’s custom designs were mostly seen locally. But when the Artisan group chose her work for the celebrity gift bags at this year’s Golden Globes, bigger doors opened.
“The personal stylist for Stana Katik, who plays detective Kate Beckett on the TV show Castle, requested earrings for Stana’s personal appearances and potentially for the TV show,” said Taylor.
Now she’s submitting designs that could be worn by big names at next years Oscars.
“I’ve been in business here at the shop for six years, but it has been remarkable in the last 90 days the increase in business we have seen both at the shop and on my website,” said Taylor.
But, how did Taylor go from working 50 hour days in corporate America to making jewelry for the stars?
“My husband one day said, ‘have you seen your credit card bills, you need to figure out a way to make this hobby pay for itself.’ Within a year I quit my job, opened the shop and have done this full time. I haven’t looked back since,” said Taylor.
