Auburn Police arrested a 14-year-old boy suspected of setting the Sept. 18 fire at Skyridge School in Auburn.

The fire was considered arson early on in the investigation, and that two possible suspects were identified early as well, police say.

Evidence from the fire was processed and analyzed in a lab until Feb. 25, when a school resource officer arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the blaze.

Police say the teen was “remorseful” while confessing to setting the fire.

The teen was booked into the Placer County Juvenile Hall for arson and other unrelated charges.
