Iconic Sacramento Recording Studio to be Demolished

SACRAMENTO-

The Hangar a hidden Gem in Sacramento, but soon the historic site will be demolished.

“It’s such a great space. There is so much history, so much has happened in these rooms, so many records,” said John Baccigaluppi.

For 23 years, Baccigaluppi has recorded roughly 10 million records for artists like Kanye West, Deftones and hundreds of local bands.

All of it recorded was recorded in the Hangar’s 3,000 square-foot space for a fraction of the cost compared to Los Angeles and San Francisco

“There are only three rooms on the entire west coast that have that much space. There is Capital Studios in Hollywood, there’s Skywalker Ranch in Marin county, and this place in Sacramento.”

But the building in Alkali Flats is crumbling, remodeling would take months, and rent would skyrocket, so Baccigaluppi decided to pack up.

“It is a big loss to the music community, in a sense,” said Baccigaluppi

But he is not done tapping his feet and mixing beats.

Baccigaluppi who owns one of the largest publications for recording artist called Tape Op is now taking his recording studio to another Sacramento site and Marin County.

While the new site won’t have as much space Baccigaluppi will continue to keep his prices low and offer good quality work.
