Can you spell ‘repoussage’?
That’s the word 6th grader Aditya Mishra correctly spelled to win the 30th annual California Central Valley Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Sacramento Bee.
Mishra says when the word was called, he knew it, but was still surprised he won.
“It’s in the back of my head, I know this. So, it’s pretty amazing in my opinion that I got it right,” the pre-teen told FOX40.
Spelling runs in the family, Mishra’s older sister won the same spelling be when she was an 8th grader and her name is on the trophy he won today.
“My sister, you could say she’s better than a child prodigy, she’s amazing at everything, but me, i’m like a jack of all trades, so I’m not as good as my sister, I can tell you that,” Mishra said.
Mishra is now headed for the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
And in case you didn’t know, repoussage is the art of hammering metal.
