Family Looking for Answers after 2 Shot Dead in Stockton

STOCKTON–

Francisco Juarez and his family were home watching TV when they heard shots fired on East Sonora Street Sunday night.

“When you fire a 9 millimeter, the shots are consistent. These weren’t like that. They were like boom, boom,” said Juarez.

Juarez came out and found Juan Sarrarez, 22, lying on the ground. He died instantly.

Juanita Maldonado, 35 later died at the hospital. Three others were wounded.

“It is hard you know to see something like that. Especially the mother to see her son. It is hard,” said Juarez.

Neighbors say the homeowners were throwing a birthday party when it all happened.

Family and friends placed flowers and a candle at the scene Monday in memory of their loved ones.

“I just want to know why did it happen to him. I miss him. He was very close to his family,” said Sarrarez’s aunt, who chose not to reveal her name.

Police believe the shooting was gang related, but Juarez says the homeowners were a family that kept to themselves. He believes the victims were guests.
