SACRAMENTO-

After weeks of collecting enough sports equipment fit for a pro team, Merryhill School students dropped off their donations to kids in need at the Salvation Army.

The students got family, friends, even the Sacramento Kings, to pitch in. They helped 750 kids who go to the after school, preschool and sports programs.

Sonja Stires of the Salvation Army says,”It’s so great to see children this young, saying ‘we see a need and we want to give back’.”

“I do it because we all live on this earth together and we have to help each other out,” says Merryhill 3rd grader Joshua Carter.

They decided on sports gear because after all, what kid doesn’t love dodge ball.

Third grader Miles Macayan says, “It makes me feel helpful for all the kids who don’t have stuff for the summer program”
