Teacher Accused of Giving Drugs to Students Pleads Not Guilty

Mugshot: Ian Runciman

A Rocklin middle school teacher charged with giving marijuana and alcohol to minors pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Ian Runciman, a leadership and math teacher at Granite Oaks Middle School in Rocklin, found himself behind bars back on March 1. Authorities were alerted to his alleged crimes after a parent found his son at Runcimen’s apartment, smelling of marijuana.

That parent reported the incident to police. Runciman was soon arrested and charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor.

Runciman, 38, is also a scholarship adviser and track coach. His next court date is on May 2.
