Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson tweeted Tuesday evening that a Kings limited partner has filed intent to match Chris Hansen’s offer on Bob Cook’s seven percent share of the team in bankruptcy court.
“Big News! Kings limited partner files intent to match offer on 7% with trustee. It’s staying in Sacramento!” the mayor tweeted.
The Sacramento Bee’s Dale Kasler reported later Tuesday night that David Lucchetti is the one placing the bid to keep the share in town. Lucchetti owns one percent of the team.
Business magnate Chris Hansen, who hopes to buy the Kings and move them to Seattle, had previously placed a bid for the share in bankruptcy court.
