All throughout the valley it has been a windy mess.
On most corners, trees came tumbling on cars, roads and anything in their sights.
Experts say you can tell if a tree is sturdy by how close it’s branches are. If you can place two fingers between the branches, the tree is sturdy.
But if two branches are close together, the tree is week.
“That is when they are trying to be dominant. Both of them are trying to be dominant and the wind comes and crack,” said Steve Steinackle with S&J Tree Care.
For nearly 20 years Steinackle has handled these green monsters. He says rather than break them up, you simply thin them out.
Also watch for rot, a clear sign of an unhealthy tree.
“Make sure there are no moats around your tree because water will get in it and rot the bottom of the tree,” said Steinackle.
If a tree does fall on your yard and it is considered public property, the City of Sacramento will have it removed.
