Bill to Repeal Rural Fire Fee Fails in Calif. Senate Committee
A bill that would do away with the $150 fire protection fee for rural property owners failed Tuesday in a Senate Committee vote.
The Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water voted 4-3 to strike down the bill originally proposed by Sen. Ted Gains, R-Rocklin.
Gains’ office said his bill, calling the fee and illegal tax, had bipartisan support.
The senator said he vows to continue to fight the fee.
