Family’s Pet Wakes Family to Burning Home

CITRUS HEIGHTS -
A yellow labrador named Montrose alerted a Citrus Heights family of six their house was on fire early Wednesday morning, giving them just enough time to make an escape.
The fire started around 3:30 on Twin Oaks Drive near Auburn Boulevard.
The dog incessantly barked until one of the people in the home got up and realized their home was on fire.
Everyone was able to get out ok, except one of their three dogs. The family didn’t have time to get their chihuahua out.
The mother was in tears and recalled watching the fire. She told FOX40, “everything’s just burning right before my eyes and I’m like, they need to hurry, they need to hurry. And as I’m watching the front of the house engulfed I’m like omigod, everything we have in there…”
Firefighters are investigating what may have caused the fire.
