Police in Fairfield say a car was stolen at gunpoint Thursday morning along Fairfield Avenue near Benton Drive.
A 16-year-old girl was waiting in the parked and running car, waiting for her mother to drive her to school shortly before 7:30 a.m, according to police.
Investigators say a man that had been standing nearby pointed a gun at both the woman and her daughter, and took off in the car. No one was hurt.
The car was later found abandoned in Fairfield early Thursday afternoon.
The suspected carjacker is described as a black man in his 20’s, about 5-feet-11-inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black, hooded jacket and blue jeans.
