A fire damaged a historic home in Truckee that dates back to the 1870’s.

Early Thursday morning, the Truckee Fire Department was called to the Kruger C.B. Whitehouse. According to Lake Tahoe Television News, the flames were knocked down quickly, but there is a lot of damage to the back of the large home.

Officers are investigating what may have started the fire.

The home was originally built in 1873 by William Henry Kruger. He was very involved with mining, mercantile and sawmill businesses in the area.

The home now operates as J Stones Whitehouse Restaurant.
