An SUV slammed into a building Tuesday afternoon in Citrus Heights.

Gwen Greenleaf was inside the Sunrise Dental Plaza in Citrus Heights when she heard an SUV crash through one of the dental offices Tuesday afternoon.

“And we heard this loud thump. It shook the building and everyone just wondered what it was,” Greenleaf said.

Citrus Heights police say an elderly woman was parked in front of the dental office when she accelerated her car trough the office lobby.

“We are currently investigating why this happened. We still don’t know why she accelerated,” said officer David Moranz.

While the driver walked away unharmed, It is hard to believe only 4 people suffered minor injuries.

“Things that have happened recently make you aware of how precious each minute is and how much we should appreciate everything,” said Greenleaf.

The city of Citrus Heights is now inspecting the building to see if it is structurally safe

This is why old people should not drive…people, do the right thing, take the keys from your elderly parents, dont let their pride be the reason someone loses a life because you were too afraid to have that conversation with them.
