A woman faces a murder charge in connection with an infant found dead under a bed.
The woman, identified as 24-year-old Courtney Addington, was checked out by medical staff at Mercy General Hospital in January for excessive bleeding. Although hospital staff said she showed signs of recently giving birth, Addington reportedly denied those claims.
The hospital contacted Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies who stopped by Addington’s home later that night.
Deputies searched the home, and found a newborn child in a trash bag under a bed. The child was dead when deputies found it.
After months of investigation by the child abuse bureau, they had evidence to suggest Addington caused the death of the child. She was arrested this week and faces a murder charge.
