“Good Samaritan” Killed in I-80 Accident
A man who pulled over to help a stranded driver near Dixon has died, and the resulting accident blocked Interstate 80 for about two hours.
Around 5 a.m., a woman driving a white car got into an accident for some reason, and her car ended up on its roof straddling the fast lane and the shoulder.
A short time later, a man pulled over into the center divider. CHP officers believe he was trying to help the woman and walked over to the white car to check on her.
The two were standing outside the flipped car along the highway, when a third car slammed into them.
CHP says the good Samaritan, the man, had to be flown to UC Davis for treatment, and died at the hospital.
The woman is being treated for her injuries, and is expected to be ok.
The third driver pulled over and spoke with CHP officers. He has only minor injuries.
Sergeant Phil Grant with Solano County CHP says it appears drugs and alcohol were not factors in this crash. They believe the third driver did not see the flipped car or the two people on the side of the highway.
