The five-day media focus on the Boston bombings are often hard to turn away from.

Many people become obsessed, they get scared, and they start looking at anyone who is different or strange. There are some individuals who have unresolved trauma history that feel safer the more they know.

Dr. Steve Grinstead says for many who are glued for hours to the TV when situations like this arise, they are running on pure adrenaline. He states, “All the reality shows, cop shows, mystery shows, then all of a sudden we have this live situation and it’s real. And they watch it like a TV episode.”
