Restaurant Hosts Fundraiser to Help Sick Child

CITRUS HEIGHTS-

At Cattle Rustlers Steakhouse Sunday it was all about giving to a special girl.

Victoria Cartwright, known as Tori, was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few months ago. Tori is only ten.

When restaurant owner Chris Johnson heard her story, he wanted to help.

“My mother died of cancer and her friends held a benefit for her. I told my wife I hope one day I can pay it forward,” said Johnson.

Sunday, Johnson shut down his restaurant for the day and prepared hundreds of tri-tip and chicken packaged meals.

Half of the day’s proceeds went to Tori.

“It is just amazing what the community has done to help,” said Tori’s grandmother Cheryl Henry.

In three months, Tori went completely blind and has undergone radiation and soon, chemotherapy.

“It is something you can not even describe. It is a cloud over you 24 hours a day,” said Henry.

Today, Tori is eating through a feeding tube and has lost 60 lbs.

Her costly treatments are more than the family can afford, making fundraisers crucial for her continued care.

Donations can be made at Wells Fargo Bank account #5769268045, under the name Vanessa Henry, who is Tori’s mother.

Checks can be mailed to Team Tori, C/O Maria Andrews at 6670 Chalk Hill Lane, Vallejo, Calif. 94591.
