Summit Fire Burns Almost 3,000 Acres, about 40% Contained

The Summit fire, burning in Riverside County, has burned about 3,000 acres as of Thursday afternoon.

Cal Fire says evacuations in the area have been lifted, and the fire is 40 percent contained.

A total of 671 firefighters were sent to the blaze, along with 79 engines, 6 air tankers, 6 helicopters and 12 dozers.

Crews say winds continue to be an issue. Only one structure was confirmed to have been destroyed.
