An investigation by the Department of Public Health revealed a reel with images of around 2,000 California birth records was found in an “unsecure” location, the department announced Monday.
The images are said to feature names, addresses, Social Security numbers and medical information.
The public health department says they have no evidence that there was any unauthorized use of any of the information found on the reel. They are still investigating, though.
The reel had information for people born in 1974 from May through September in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter or Tehama counties.
Those possibly affected can contact the Department of Public Health at (855) 737-1796 or email 1974Birth@CDPH.CA.Gov.
