Thursday, Vacaville Police searched the car of Bobby Chambers, 53, a special ed teacher at Willis Jepson Middle school.
Inside, they reportedly found a loaded hand gun, ammunition, cocaine and marijuana.
The Vacaville Unified School District says the investigation started after Chambers’ ex-girlfriend called the schools principal, saying Chambers had a loaded gun and used illegal drugs while on campus.
“I was shocked. I was disappointed because this individual invariably lost sight of his obligations to maintain a safe environment for our students,” said John Niederkorn, superintendent of the Vacaville Unified School District.
Chambers had been a teacher with the district since 2007 and a teacher in California since 1999.
Up until now, the district says they never had any problems with his behavior.
Chambers was arrested and faces a number of felony charges.
Police said they do not believe the students were in danger.
