A Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputy shot a man inside a CVS pharmacy Tuesday evening, the department said.
Deputies responded to the store on Marconi Avenue to reports of an armed robbery.
“Officers observed that the suspect had what appeared to be a firearm in his hand. They gave him numerous verbal commands to drop the gun on the ground. He neglected to do that,” Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jason Ramos said. “Due to his close proximity with an employee and the fact that he was armed with a handgun, one of the officers fired a shot that went through the glass of the secure area of the pharmacy, and that stuck the suspect.”
Ramos said the deputy that fired his gun is a 25-year veteran of the department.
The suspected robber is expected to recover from the shooting.
