Car Crashes into Home Rebuilt After Lightning Strike

LOOMIS –

Lightning may not have struck twice for homeowner John Anwyl, but he’s left with another frustrating situation to deal with.

On Sunday evening a car traveling on Horseshoe Bar Road lost control, smashed through his yard, crashed into Anwyl’s home and caught fire.

“Looking at the house there is a tremendous amount of damage,” noted Anwyl who wasn’t home at the time of the accident.

Last August Anwyl’s home was struck by lightning.  He lost most of the roof back then.  Now he’s got a lot more damage.

As for the driver and passenger in the car, both men were treated at a local hospital for burns and other injuries.  Both are expected to be OK.

The CHP said they don’t believe alcohol was involved.  However, speed may have been a factor.  They are also looking at a possible mechanical failure on the car.
