Thousands of Fans Expected at “Long Live the Kings” Rally
Organizers of the “Long Live the Kings” rally are preparing for as many as 10,000 fans to attend the free celebration in Cesar Chavez Park Thursday night.
Parking near the event at 9th and J streets may be a challenge. Fans are encouraged to take public transportation. But some may want to arrange a separate ride home because the event will still be going after some buses stop running for the night.
The party begins at 5 p.m., and the on-stage program runs from 7 to 9 p.m. FOX40 will be there live and stream the event on FOX40.com.
Entertainers appearing at the event include “Glee” star Chord Overstreet and his country singer father Paul, Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon, rapper Alex Johnson and artist Dave Garibaldi.
Mayor Kevin Johnson, prospective Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadive and general team investors Paul Jacobs, Raj Bhathal, Mark Mastrov, Andrew Miller, Chris Kelly and Mark Friedman are also slated to appear.
Hannon is said to be performing Tesla hit “Love Song” and Alex Johnson will be performing “NBA.” The Overstreets will headline and perform “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
Kings fan-favorites Chris Webber, Mitch Richmond, Scot Pollard, Bobby Jackson, Tyreke Evans and Isaiah Thomas, mascot Slamson, Kings announcer Scott Moak, broadcasters Grant Napear and Jerry Reynolds and radio host Carmichael Dave will also attend.
