SACRAMENTO—

A woman opened fire on her teenage son during an argument Tuesday morning, police say.

Officers showed up along Majorca Circle, off of Valley High Drive, around 6:30 a.m. after getting a report of a shooting.

At the scene, police found that a woman and her 16-year-old son were in some sort of argument. The teen told FOX40 that he was 30 minutes late for curfew the night before and that she called him a few names. He also admitted that he likes to smoke pot, but never around her.

Police say that the argument escalated to the point where the mom, 47-year-old Marlene Young, went into her home to get a gun. She then opened fire at her son, police say.

The teen claims that once police showed up, Young yelled out “I was trying to hit him, I meant to kill him!”

No one was hurt during the incident, but Young was ultimately arrested for assault with a deadly weapons, negligent discharge of a firearm and child endangerment charges.
