Specialist Ray Ramirez, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan earlier in June, will be laid to rest after a funeral and procession scheduled for Friday.
The Department of Defense says Ramirez, a Florin High School graduate, died from injuries he got when his unit was attacked by an improvised explosive device on June 1. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, based in Fort Stewart, Georgia
A procession, led by the Patriot Guard Riders, will gather at East Lawn Mortuary along East Stockton Boulevard and escort Ramirez’ family to Harvest Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. After the funeral, the Patriot Guard Riders will lead a larger procession from the church to Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
Ramirez, who was 20-years-old, will be given military honors.
