Evacuation Orders Lifted, Roads Back Open near Yosemite

Firefighters in Mariposa County, fighting the Carstens fire.


The fire burning near Yosemite National Park is now 70% contained, and all evacuation orders are lifted.

The Carstens fire, burning in Mariposa County, has stayed about 1,600 acres big. People who had been evacuated are being allowed back to their homes.

The fire started Sunday afternoon, reportedly from an unattended campfire that was not fully extinguished.

One injury is being blamed on the fire. No structures were destroyed.
