When it’s hot outside, we get cranky; but imagine if you had four legs, a tail and you were covered with fur.
“They should be inside on a day like today,” said Dave Dickinson, with the Sacramento County Department of Animal Care.
If your cat or dog must go outside, Dickinson says make sure they don’t end up in the backseat of your car, unsupervised.
“It’s illegal and dangerous,” Dickinson told FOX40. “Make sure to give them plenty of water.”
If the ground is too hot for you to walk on, Dickinson tells FOX40, it’s too hot for them.
“Pick up a pair of those little booties if they must be out in this heat and cover their laws.”
