EL DORADO COUNTY–

Victor Yovzhiy took his six children and 41 other campers to Sugar Loaf Camp to study and learn about the bible. But, it quickly turned in to a fiery disaster.

“All of a sudden we saw smoke down below coming through the mountains,” he said.

Yovzhiy cut the trip short and packed 13 kid into a van and started driving back to Sacramento, leaving behind bibles, an iPad, clothes, and a trailer.

“We’re okay, that’s what matters,” said Yovzhiy.

Yovzhiy left the camp Monday while the Kyburz fire was at 160 acres. Since then, the fire has grown to 615 acres.
