It’s just the kind of place you’d want to be your neighborhood park – welcoming spaces for biking, sleeping or taking your humans out for a walk.
“It’s gorgeous obviously. Everybody’s super friendly,” said one walker FOX40 stopped on a trail.
But, Davis police say a couple is now under arrest for trying to be too friendly and literally pervert the peace of Community Park.
Thirty-year-old Wenyi Xu of Folsom is accused of exposing herself to kids riding near the Covell Boulevard bike overpass on the park’s north side Wednesday morning.
A quick-thinking park employee saw something going on and made a call that helped police make the arrest.
“Pretty surprised … I would never expect that here,” said another walker.
“Not out here. Not exposed to children. No,” said Michael Neff of Davis.
The man Xu was spotted with, 61-year-old Nicholas Bowen of Grizzly Flats, is now facing charges for capturing her alleged display on film or video.
“Yikes! I would hope that it wouldn’t be true,” said one woman.
Investigators in Davis think the pair may have taken their peep show on the road in the past – possibly to Sacramento and El Dorado counties. They’re looking for anyone who may have seen too much of Xu and Bowen to come forward.
It’s a little too much to take for the Raffuse family, who’ve only called Davis home for two days.
“Well that’s pretty disturbing and very strange,” said Sean Raffuse.
Folks in Davis are now taking comfort in the arrests and that their park can once again be used for the right purposes.
Xu and Bowen are now being held at the Monroe Detention Facility in Woodland.
