Abandoned Convalescent Home Goes up in Flames

SOUTH SACRAMENTO –

A former convalescent home went up in flames late Wednesday night in South Sacramento.

The fire happened at the abandoned Elder Creek Residential Care building on Logan Street and Lemon Hill Avenue just before midnight.

Firefighters said the fire started in the front of the building and it spread quickly.

Witnesses said they heard an explosion. It’s unclear how the fire started but police are calling the fire suspicious.

No one was hurt.
