NORTH SACRAMENTO –
Embers from a garage fire could have blown a mile away and started a second fire late Monday in North Sacramento, according to investigators.
Flames first started on a palm tree on Danville Way near Western Avenue around 10:30 p.m. and then fell on a nearby garage.
The homeowner didn’t want to appear on camera but said his neighbors tried to help put out the fire.
Neighbors say before the fire started they heard fireworks nearby.
One said the garage, “was all engulfed in flames. I looked out my window and the whole street was engulfed in flames.”
A second fire started soon after in a grassy field about a mile away on Silver Eagle Road.
Investigators think the fires could be related but are still investigating.
Fire officials said the situation could have been a lot worse if they hadn’t gotten there in time. No one was injured.
