SUTTER COUNTY—

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office says this is the largest recovery of stolen goods in memory.

Jerry Allen Johnson, 50, and Mark James Johnson, 54, are in jail after burglarizing up to 30 residences in six counties. The brothers posed as paving contractors and went door to door. If no one was home they broke in and took items – from tools, jewelry, guns and anything that wasn’t nailed down it seems.

They were also actually hired to do work, and then stole items while on the job.  Detectives credited neighborhood watch groups for helping to break the case. They want recent victims to contact them to recover possible items.

Some victims were at the Sutter County Sheriff’s warehouse to look for items, while staff and volunteers cataloged the goods.

Eventually, items will be put on the sheriff’s website for the public to identify stuff. But there is so much property recovered in four locations that it may take a while to get them on the website.
