Former Royal Seamstress – and Racho Cordva Resident – Excited for Royal Baby
The wait is over and the world is watching. But nobody is more excited than a local woman with an important connection to new momma Kate Middelton.
“I kind of thought it was going to be a boy. And all my English friends text ‘boy or girl?’ and we all took bets on it and I won,” said Sylvia Guraydin of Keepsake Bridal Alterations.
Guraydin might have had a bit of an advantage: She was the royal family seamstress for more than ten years and knows the family history.
“There are lots of boys in the family, and it comes from the boys side, so I thought it was going to be a boy,” said Guraydin.
She also thinks Kate and William are going to choose a strong name.
“I kind of [have] an inkling it might be Alexander or Henry,” said Guraydin.
Guraydin was selected to design part of Kate’s wedding dress — a design she created in her Rancho Cordova shop.
“I submitted the designs and it was obviously my top when it came out — and that nearly stopped my heart when I saw it. And I do have the sketches and the letter back thanking me,” said Guraydin.
Guraydin says she feels a close connection to the new child, and she knows the baby will spark new interest in the royal family.
