ROSEVILLE—

A Roseville construction company has an intrepid witness to thank after a couple tried to steal a tractor early Monday evening.

Around 6:43 p.m., a witness near Atlantic Street and Taylor Road saw a man and a woman trying to load a tractor onto a tractor-trailer rig. That witness confronted the suspects, causing the couple to run down the Miner’s Ravine bike trail.

Officers soon showed up and surrounded the trail.

With the help of other trial users, Roseville Police say, the couple was soon caught and taken into custody near the Orvietto Drive part of the trail.

The woman is said to be from Sacramento, while the man is from Elk Grove. They are both 34-years-old and face charges of vehicle theft, possessing stolen property, among other charges. The man also faces a violation of parole.

Police are also looking into whether the truck the couple was using – among other items found with them – was stolen, as the trailer they were hauling was reported stolen out of Sacramento.
