Police Dog Helps Arrest Fleeing Suspect

STOCKTON-

A police dog helped arrest a man in Stockton after he ran from officers.

Monday afternoon, Stockton Police tried to stop a car along Benjamin Holt Drive. The driver led officers through a nearby parking lot before stopping.

The driver, identified as Craig Meadows, reportedly dropped a gun magazine and took off running across nearby lanes of I-5.

The passenger in the car, Dwight McCoy was arrested for a parole violation.

On the other side of I-5, officers spoke with a witness who said he saw Meadows drop a weapon into a trash can in their backyard.

A Stockton Police K-9 found Meadows hiding under a tarp in the backyard of a home. He was arrested for weapons and controlled substance charges.
