Police have made an arrest in the murder of a 19-year-old after a fight at a house partly along Sea Drift Way back in June.
Elijah Rogers, also 19, was arrested Tuesday on murder, resisting arrest, possession of rock cocaine for sale and weapons charges, according to a release from the Sacramento Police Department.
Officers first ran into Rogers back on July 17, when he was identified as a person of interest into the homicide. Rogers ran from the detectives, but the officers were able to catch up. Trying to subdue him, the officers noticed that Rogers had a handgun on him.
The detectives then shot Rogers, who had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of his wounds. Rogers was released from the hospital Tuesday and was arrested immediately after.
A 17-year-old also believed to be connected to the shooting was arrested back on July 27 for assault with a deadly weapon, shooting a firearm into an inhabited dwelling and gross negligent discharge of a firearm charges.
Detectives are still looking witnesses from the day of the fatal shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Sacramento Police.
