SACRAMENTO —

This coming Tuesday, Sacramento’s City Council will be asked to step in and help the Kings negotiations to buy a vital piece to the development of the new arena.

The piece in question is the Macy’s men’s store at the Downtown Plaza. It is owned by a New York-based real estate firm. The two sides had reached a tentative agreement a couple of months ago, but when the deal fell apart the Kings reached out to the City for assistance.

Adam Mendelsohm, who spoke to FOX40 Thursday evening, said the new Kings ownership group had anticipated things getting to this point and needing the City’s help.

When asked about the eventual possibility of the City exercising eminent domain, Mendelsohm said he believed negotiations would not reach that point.
