Yuba College Alpaca Pen Ravaged by Loose Dogs

MARYSVILLE—

Seven alpacas were apparently killed by two pit bulls that got into their pen at Yuba College, school officials told FOX40.

The gruesome scene was discovered Friday morning, when the department head of the veterinary tech program and a coworker went to feed the alpacas.

Two male alpacas were found dead in their holding area. The two then found that five of the female alpacas were also dead. Only three alpacas were still standing.

Still inside the pen with the females were the suspects – two pit bulls.

One of the men got in their truck and ran the dogs off. Both dogs are still on the loose. The surviving animals are now in a safe location and are being nursed back to health by vet students.

Two cows were found to have also been attacked – nearly losing an eye and another losing a chunk of its nose.
